1. Research Essay Peer Review Protocol
- THESIS — Underline the thesis. Is it arguable? Is it specific? Could a reasonable person disagree? Write the thesis here in your own words.
- STRUCTURE — Does each body paragraph have a topic sentence that directly supports the thesis? Number the topic sentences 1, 2, 3. Do they all point to the same thesis?
- EVIDENCE & ANALYSIS — For each body paragraph: identify the evidence (quote or paraphrase), then find the analysis. Is the analysis longer than the evidence? Does it explain what the evidence means?
- COUNTERARGUMENT — Where does the essay acknowledge and respond to an opposing view? Is the rebuttal convincing? Does it use evidence?
- MLA — Are all in-text citations correct (Author page)? Is Works Cited on a new page? Does every in-text citation match a Works Cited entry?
