1. Semester Skills Transfer Inventory
- RHETORICAL AWARENESS — In your next course (history, psychology, nursing), identify the audience, purpose, and genre of the first writing assignment. How does your EGL 1010 rhetorical lens apply?
- SYNTHESIS — When your next research assignment asks you to cite multiple sources, recall the MEA(L) structure. Will you use a synthesis paragraph to connect two sources around one claim?
- SOURCE EVALUATION — Before trusting a source in any future course, run SIFT. Open a lateral-read tab. Check for peer review. This takes 3 minutes and protects your credibility.
- MLA vs. OTHER STYLES — APA (social sciences), Chicago (history), and AMA (health) differ from MLA. The skill transfers even if the format changes: author, title, container, date, location.
- TRANSFER PLAN — Write one sentence for each: (1) which course you are taking next; (2) which EGL 1010 skill you will use first; (3) what specifically you will do differently because of this course.
