1. Quote Sandwich Builder

1. INTRODUCTION — Write a signal phrase that names the author, identifies the source context, and sets up why you are using this quotation. Example: 'In her analysis of family dynamics, [Author] observes that...'
2. QUOTATION — Insert the exact words enclosed in double quotation marks. Add the in-text parenthetical citation immediately after the closing quotation mark and before the period: (Author Page).
3. ANALYSIS — Write 2–3 sentences in your own words explaining what the quotation means and how it connects to your paragraph's main claim. Start with 'This shows...' or 'Torres's choice to... demonstrates...' then go deeper.
4. CHECK — Can the analysis stand alone without the quotation? If yes, your analysis is strong. Does the analysis simply restate the quotation? If yes, revise to add your own interpretive insight.
