- A thesis takes a position that a reasonable person could disagree with and previews the reasons.
- Argument elements: claim, reasons, evidence, counterargument, rebuttal.
- Weak thesis: 'Social media has pros and cons.' Strong: 'Schools should ban phones during class because…'
